If over-consumption is a systemic societal addiction, then Los Angeles is one of it’s biggest junkies. Could we possibly drive more miles to buy more useless junk?
More importantly, climate change is the gravest threat to humanity in the 10,000 year history of our civilization, and the long-distance non-stop high-energy carbon footprint of LA makes this place ground zero on climate change.
But if we are to solve climate change, we can’t simply dismiss LA and run to Portland, we need to understand how this city works, how its citizens think en masse, to help it want to transform.
Is it possible to communicate the value + virtue of consuming less to this audience? Could LA become Los Angeless, a beacon of ‘can do’ enlightenment for the rest of the country?
Check out a couple other climate graphics.
