Mattel Media came to Addictive Media to build Rockett’s Camp Adventure, the first in series of “friendship adventure” titles for girls.
I’m especially proud of the Rockett PDA, a personal digital assistant which wasn’t in Mattel’s original game concept but which was so well received it became the cornerstone of the UI.
The PDA gives girls access to help screens, their private journal, interplayer email, a research database for solving challenges throughout the game, a visual progress panel, and an internet link to game-related material on Mattel’s Purple Moon website.
For those of you thinking skeuomorphism is passé, just know that I rendered this a couple years before Apple unveiled their jaw-dropping suite of realistic app icons in the first OSX, and a full 8 years before the iPhone, yo!
